Chalet Confidentiel...
This modern chalet for 12 people is set in a quiet hamlet, just below the resort of Doucy, which links to the Valmorel ski area. The pistes are just 500m from the chalet, and ski lockers are provided there, so you don't need to carry your equipment every day.
When you arrive at the chalet, you can leave your car in the private parking area and follow a 500m path which leads through the tranquil Alpine meadows to Chalet Confidentiel.
Valmorel is just 6km away from Doucy, which is a popular choice for families looking for great skiing, hiking and biking without the crowds and queues that come with the larger resorts. It has its own ski area for beginners and has teamed up with the Gulli children's TV channel, who provide entertainment throughout the high season.
About the property...
Chalet Confidentiel is a three-storey chalet for up to 12 guests, with five bedrooms and four shower rooms.
When you enter on the first floor, you'll come to the open-plan living area, which is flooded with light thanks to the floor to ceiling windows which frame the stunning mountain and valley views. There's a semi-professional kitchen with an island and everything you need to cook for your group. The beautiful wooden dining table is big enough for everyone, and is sure to be the setting for some great meals. And afterwards, you can gather on the sofas to plan another day in the mountains.
On the lower ground floor, there are two double bedrooms, each with open en-suite shower rooms, and a third room with two double beds, sleeping four. This room also has an en-suite bathroom. These rooms all have access to the terrace. The laundry room, with a washing machine and a dryer, is also on this floor.
There are two additional large double bedrooms on the top floor, which share a shower room with WC.
This recently-constructed chalet has been finished to a high standard, with a great use of local wood and stone. All of the bedrooms have televisions, roller shutters and top quality bed linens.
This secluded chalet is a great choice for a group of family or friends who are looking for a quiet base surrounded by nature, yet just a short distance from superb skiing in the Grand Domaine.
About the area...
Chalet Confidentiel is just 14 minutes away from the charming ski village of Valmorel, in the Tarentaise, and just five minutes from the nearest ski lift. The Valmorel, Doucy-Combelouvière and Saint François Longchamp ski area, known as the Grand Domaine, boasts 165km of slopes, 50 ski lifts and new play areas including snowparks, boardercross, freeride zones, etc.
There's plenty for non-skiers too – choose from snowshoeing, paragliding, ice climbing, hiking and Nordic trails, as well as quad biking, airboarding, and tobogganing! If you'd rather just relax and take it easy, maybe a spa day at the Valmoforme or Ô des Cimes well-being centres is for you. Both offer a great range of massage and beauty treatments, as well as a spa area and gym area and tisanerie.
Doucy also has a delightful outdoor swimming pool, which is open in July and August. There are a few shops, a small supermarket and restaurants in the village, with more in Valmorel.
The ESF ski school in Valmorel offers ski lessons for all ages. Doucy has its own beginners area and a Piou-Piou club, where three and four-year-olds can find their ski legs in a supervised snow garden.
In summer, the snowy slopes are replaced by lush green pastures perfect for hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, rock climbing and much more. The hike to the summit of Crève-Tête will reward you with fabulous views. There's also a fabulous waterfall walk from Valmorel – visit the tourist office for maps and information.
The nearby museum of traditional life in nearby Quarante Planes is an interesting day out, and the Magic Adventure high ropes park in Valmorel has ziplines, giant nets and courses for all ages. If you fancy exploring a bit further afield, why not enjoy a relaxing day and take the water at the Thermes de Brides-les-Bains, a mountain spa centre just 16km from Valmorel.
The historic town of Albertville, which hosted the winter Olympics in 1992, and the nearby medieval city of Conflans, are a 30-minute drive from Chalet Confidentiel.

Set in the heart of the Tarentaise region, and linked with the Grande Domaine ski area, Valmorel is a relatively new resort built in a traditional style.
With a reputation for being very family-friendly, it’s a great place for youngsters to learn to ski.
Here you’ll find snowparks, blue and green slopes and the challenge of off-piste areas.

It was to this unique place that my great-grandmother used to bring the farm animals to graze in the Alpine pastures. There was little in the way of comfort, with just one small converted room -the rest was barns and stables.
My mother spent some of her best summers here.
Four generations later the resort has grown, and we have transformed this family property into a luxury chalet to share with you.
Nestled in the heart of nature, in an unspoilt Alpine hamlet just a stone's throw from the resort, you won't be disturbed by the neighbours - that's why we called it "Chalet Confidentiel".
You may be lucky enough to spot deer, foxes or ermine early in the morning. And you'll always have a fantastic, unobstructed view of the Tarentaise mountains.
Solidly built on a stone base, with traditional wooden features and an unspoilt setting combined with contemporary comfort and large windows, you'll feel right at home at Chalet Confidentiel. It's a place where several families can get together or find their own distinct spaces.
There are two bedrooms on the upper floor and three suites including a bunk room on the lower floor, as well as a vast living room for getting together, and the wonderful terrace where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the place.
